Interventional Radiology is a radiology sub-specialty in which minor surgical procedures are performed using technologically advanced imaging. These are normally performed in a hospital environment.
Procedures include, but are not limited to:
- Angioplasty and vascular stenting
- Embolisation procedures
- PICC line or Portacath insertions/removals
- Lumbar puncture
- Tumour ablation

How long does it take?
The duration is dependent on the procedure you are having.
Please note that a Medicare rebate and a health fund benefit may apply for these examinations. If there as a gap payment, which is the patient’s responsibility, you will be informed of all out of pocket costs at the time of appointment booking.
Your results will be forwarded electronically to your referring doctor and should be available within 24 hours.
