Bone Mineral Densitometry (BMD), also known as bone density scan, uses low energy x-rays to acquire images that are specifically used to measure the density of bone. It is most commonly used to measure bone loss for the diagnosis of Osteoporosis.
What to tell us?
Please advise if you are pregnant or suspect you may be pregnant.
If you have been injected with a contrast material (Barium enemas, IVP’s or CT scans), or had a nuclear medicine exam.
If you have had spinal surgery, particularly with metallic implants or hip surgery.

Please note that a Medicare rebate and a health fund benefit may apply for these examinations. If there as a gap payment, which is the patient’s responsibility, you will be informed of all out of pocket costs at the time of appointment booking.
